European Mathematical Society published similar statement. It doesn't go as far as avoiding mentioning AI at all but heavily emphasizes role of humans and worries about credit.
It mentions that "progress had also recently been made" by Alpöge&Buckmaster but doesn't indicate it's part of the chain.
This week, OpenAI claimed to have solved a legendary Millennium Prize mathematics problem. In normal circumstances, this would have been celebrated as a historic achievement.
Instead, many mathematicians see OpenAI as a glory-hungry interloper.

Yes, I agree. I took endorsement of the Fields medalist statement to mean (for me) they have identified something real and I agree with their description of the disconnect. I took AHM much more seriously as a commitment I'm making to actually do something about it in my mathematical practice!
I do think that formal verification will become/has become usable on a much larger scale due to AI though this isn't an observation original to me obviously.
